Future of Education Hackathon with Department of Education

Amidst the evolving landscape of education, it is essential to equip students with the resilience and adaptability required for success in an ever-changing world.

We teamed up with the Department of Education to deliver the “Future of Education Hackathon” designed to redefine learning paradigms and cultivate a generation of resilient, adaptable learners across Victoria.

The Future of Education Hackathon gathered 50 of Victoria’s leading state principals in an exploration of failure-based learning approaches. Across one action-packed session, participants engaged in collaborative brainstorming sessions and design thinking activities. Our goal was twofold:

  1. to foster resilience and adaptability quotient among students in every school;
  2. and to develop actionable strategies to integrate failure-based learning approaches into the curriculum.

Module 1: Setting the Stage | Principals explored the concept of failure-based learning and heard from an inspiring keynote speaker sharing insights on the power of fail-forward learning mentalities to transform education. Discussions focused on identifying barriers to implementation and strategies for overcoming them.

Module 2: Collaborative Brainstorming | Principals and educators came together to share insights, perspectives and best practice they have implemented on failure-based learning. Through dynamic brainstorming sessions, we identified key challenges and opportunities for enhancing student resilience and adaptability.

Module 3: Designing the Future | Through hands-on activities guided by an expert facilitator, state principals co-created actionable strategies to integrate failure-based learning into their schools. Prototypes were developed in cross-collaboration across schools, laying the groundwork for implementation.

This was a dynamic and transformative experience for state principals, providing insight into failure-based approaches and how they can create a more resilient and adaptable education environment within their schools.
